Quote of the Day

"There is nothing wrong with the younger generation that becoming taxpayers won't cure."

Quote of the Day

John Kerry (following last night's Democratic defeat in Massachusetts:
I hope as a party we don't succumb to the temptation to form a circular firing squad.

Hmmm...A circular firing squad could eliminate all the current leaders of the Democratic Party as well as their legions of grossly overpaid consultants, advisers, and strategists, as well as the leftist, socialist liberal scholars and thinkers in leadership positions.

And that's a bad idea...why, exactly?

Quote of the Day

"Christmas is when kids ask Santa Claus for what they want, and adults pay for it. Congressional Sessions are when adults tell congressmen and senators what they want, and their kids pay for it."

Quote of the Day

In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the perpetual energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth. Adopting from the sublime conception of Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it the audacious falsehood that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust by all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain by degrading the condition of the female sex and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared and undistinguishing and exterminating war, as part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. The essence of his doctrine was violence and lust: to exalt the brutal over the spiritual part of human nature... between these two religions, thus contrasted their characters, a war of 1200 years has already raged. The war is yet flagrant... while the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will toward men.

Quote of the Day

Maybe I'm funny this way, but there's something that bugs me about a guy having sex with a woman, having himself a good time and then, when pregnancy is the result, sticking us with the bill for the abortion. Darn it, we didn't have sex with the woman. He did. What's next? Government funding for guys too poor to afford hookers?

David Harsanyi:

"...if this administration can't handle one cable station's opposition, what does that tell the American people about its mettle on issues that matter?"

Quote of the Day

"Free people can treat each other justly, but they can't make life fair. To get rid of the unfairness among individuals, you have to exercise power over them. The more fairness you want, the more power you need. Thus, all dreams of fairness become dreams of tyranny in the end."

-- Andrew Klavan

Quote of the Day

Today's quotes (two of them) are taken from signs seen at the September 12 march on Washington:

"My life's work is not the government's slush fund"

and

"Help me, Obama! They want me to work and stuff!"

Quote of the Day

"It's amazing how much respect the left has for the office of the Presidency when it is occupied by one of its own."

-- Anonymous commenter on a news story item about Joe Wilson and the House Democrats intention to condemn him for his "outrageous" behavior during Obama's speech.

Quote of the Day

...If nothing else, this demonstrates the end of George W. Bush as a talking point for Democrats. People weren't really worried that the NSA was listening to their conversations with Aunt Millie. The czars and the government takeovers of health care and energy production, on the other hand, will impact every American in fundamental ways. Bush as a vague and ambiguous bogeyman has been eclipsed by the very real encroachment on liberty that Barack Obama and his czars promise.

-- Ed Morrissey commenting on the public displays of mistrust people are showing for this administration at Town Hall meetings.

"The urge to save humanity is always a false front for the urge to rule it."

-- H.L. Mencken

Quote of the Day

"With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?

Quote of the Day

Today's Quote of the Day is from eric at tygrrrrrexpress. If you haven't read his analysis of Obama's speech, please do. It's accurate and funny at the same time. Here is the quote:

"For those who think I am always against President Obama, let me give credit where credit is due. His necktie was perfect. I think he uses a Windsor knot. Like his necktie, his words are contorted into a twisted shape that fits him perfectly but does not benefit anybody else."

"If Al Qaeda wants to demolish the America we know and love, they'd better hurry because Obama's beating them to it."
