Poll: Doctors Would Quit Under ObamaCare

Here's a huge dose of reality for the leftists who believe that ObamaCare would not bring health care rationing:

Investor's Business Daily did an extensive poll of medical professionals. While the administration is telling us that medical professionals are behind their proposed health care reforms (cue Joe Wilson), the IBD/TIPP poll found that two out of every three practicing physicians oppose the medical overhaul plans under construction in Washington. Furthermore, 45% of practicing physicians say they would shut down their practices and/or retire early if it were adopted.

Let me repeat that last part, just in case someone didn't get it . . .

ALMOST HALF OF ALL DOCTORS PRACTICING IN THE COUNTRY RIGHT NOW WOULD QUIT (or at least think about quitting) IF OBAMACARE BECOMES A REALITY.

The poll contradicts the claims of not only the White House, but also the doctor's own lobby, the powerful American Medical Association (which has always been to the left, politically, of where most practicing physicians are), both of which suggest that the medical profession is behind ObamaCare.

This calls into question whether an overhaul is even doable. Seventy Two Percent (72%!) of doctors polled disagree with the administration's claim that the government can cover 47 million people with better (or the same) quality of care at lower cost.

Smart guys, those doctors.

Nearly everyone agrees that if an additional 47 million people ... or 20 million people ... or 6 million people ... are covered (the numbers are all over the map; 47 million is the number the administration likes to use because it's big, but it's also highly suspect), there aren't enough doctors to handle the increase. There will be rationing. BUT, that's assuming we have the same number of doctors. If half of them quit, this nation would be in a health care crisis immediately.

Now, we all know it's easy to say something in a poll, but when it comes right down to it, the numbers that actually quit would probably be much less than 45%. But even if it is much less ... say 15% or 20%, we are still looking at a dire situation. Many people, even now, have trouble getting in to see a doctor because they are too busy.

Don't expect Obama's health care czar's office to report this in its "Reality Check" series. It doesn't fit the narrative.
