Idiot Leftist Thinks Money Spent on Iraq War would Fund Health Care

The war in Iraq cost America $5.8 million a month at its peak. Right now, there is a leftist looney on TV saying that if we had taken the money spent in Iraq, we could have nationalized "NaziCare" right now.

Let's see if that's right.

The war in Iraq lasted 6 years (assuming that it's basically over, now). There are varying estimates on the actual monthly cost, but the $5.8 million a month number is the one used by the military and most sources I found in a quick search. (Some sources cited a number as high as $13 million a month, but those were from less reliable sources.)

Five point eight million dollars a month works out to about $70 million a year. Over six years, that's $420 million.

The bi-partisan Congressional Budget Office last month said that the current bill on the floor would cost just over 1 trillion dollars over a ten year period beginning in 2010. This is only for the proposed health care bill; it does not include Medicare or Medicaid expenses. One trillion dollars over 10 years is one hundred billion dollars every year, and it will not end at six years.

Seems to me, the leftists use fuzzy math to justify whatever they want.
